Today I... Cut My Phone Usage in Half

My friends and I created a pact to make sure that we would go on our phones less so we could be more productive. We put timers on each of our most used apps which were secured by passcodes that the user did not know. This way, we can't go on our phones longer, even if we wanted to. I've had these app timers on for two days now and it's really starting to be annoying. Only use Instagram and Snapchat for 15 minutes a day? That's unheard of. I don't have a timer on YouTube (I probably average like 3 hours a day) because I use it when I eat, get ready, and when I am in the car. In addition to this, I use it for educational purposes too. I limited my game usage to 30 minutes (15 minutes on each of two apps), but I ended up only hitting the limit on one app. 15 minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time to go on apps, but it actually is.

I could be so much more productive if I used all that time on research or working on projects. I am glad I have taken on this challenge, but I don't know how long I will do it for. I want to be able to do it for the rest of the year and start fresh in 2020. This year, I kicked into high gear and now I am just trying to create value in my life and this is a good step. I could go out and be useful to the world rather than looking at memes on TikTok (which is a great app by the way). I will continue to update how I am doing on my journey, but as of now I feel more productive.
