Today I Learned... About the Air Conditioner Crisis
The entire world is experiencing global warming. It is absolutely devastating and what do we do to combat this? We turn the air conditioner higher of course. 12% of our non-carbon dioxide emissions come from our fridges and air-conditioners. The large AC consumption is a huge problem in India, especially. It frequently reaches 104 degrees in places like Delhi. Cooling down buildings and homes is about 50% of all electricity consumed during the summertime.
With almost 8 billion people in the world right now, it is essential that we are conscientious of our electrical consumption. India is trying to play their part and they launched a contest testing people to try to fix the air conditioning crisis. This is a good step into the right direction and, hopefully, it gets us closer to a more environmental-friendly solution.
