Today I Learned... How Aluminum Cans Are Made

This blew my mind. First of all, I never knew I would ever watch a twelve minute video about how an aluminum can was made, but it came up in my recommended and it was something that was really intriguing. To think that there was so much design that went into making the aluminum can made me really rethink about how much planning has gone on to create our everyday items we don't think twice about before using. The aluminum can was made into a cylinder because it is easy to hold in the hand, while still being able to be grouped together without losing too much space in between each can.

In addition to this, having the little half semi-circle at the bottom saves millions of dollars a year by using less material than having a flat bottom. Yeah all of this was crazy, but that's not even the best part. The best part is how they make the soda tab in a two type lever so people wouldn't keep littering the peel off tabs on the floor. I never thought of soda cans this way, but it makes sense that every little thing has to be accounted for since they are massed produced. Each minor thing could turn into a huge problem with over 200 billion cans being manufactured every year.
