Today I Reacted to... The Anthony Davis Trade
Today, June 15th, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans got traded to the Lakers for Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and 3 future 1st round draft picks. I believe that the Lakers traded way too much away for Davis. Davis is a top 10 player in the league, but giving away two great young players in Hart and Ingram plus 3 first round picks is giving away their entire future. The Lakers have to prove that they are a top contender this season or they are wasting Davis and James' prime years. James and Davis could be a lethal combo, but they have no backcourt to assist them. The Lakers need to go out and get a bunch of free agents this summer to make this dream team come into fruition. Hopefully, it'll work out for the Lakers or it will look like a disaster for the organization.
I personally don't think that it was a smart decision. They gave away too many key players in return for one, someone who, in my opinion, won't fit well with LeBron. LeBron is a very ball-dominant player and so is Davis. LeBron needs shooters, not people who hog the ball too. This is very similar to when the Pelicans tried out Davis and DeMarcus Cousins together, also two ball-dominant players. It didn't work out there and I don't really expect it to work out here. I know Cousins and James are in two different ballparks, but the same concept still applies. LeBron is a court general who makes plays and forces double teams, letting him dish the ball out to a sharp shooter in the corner if he has to. Davis would just get in his way.
